Why Indian IT Stocks Are Rising Today Amid AI Slowdown Buzz

Why Indian IT stocks are rising today has become a key market question after the Nifty IT index jumped more than 4% at Tuesday’s opening. The gains came as investors returned to technology shares following recent pressure on the sector.
TCS gained nearly 5%, while HCL Technologies climbed more than 6%. Tech Mahindra rose around 5%, LTM advanced over 4%, and Infosys gained about 4.50% in early trade, pointing to broad buying across major IT counters.
The immediate trigger is growing discussion around a possible AI slowdown in global markets. Indian technology stocks had faced selling pressure as artificial intelligence companies attracted strong investor attention. As that momentum shows signs of cooling, investors are reassessing beaten-down IT shares.
Amit Goel, Chief Global Strategist at PACE 360, said IT and technology stocks had suffered significant losses while AI-focused companies performed strongly. The changing sentiment could encourage investors to look again at Indian IT companies trading at more attractive valuations.
The Indian IT stocks rally is also being supported by technical conditions. Seema Srivastava, Senior Research Analyst at SMC Global Securities, said several technology shares have entered oversold territory, while valuations have become more appealing after the recent decline.
The Nifty IT index surge has also created interest beyond large-cap companies. Srivastava said small-cap IT stocks could offer stronger potential because they showed greater resilience during the recent sell-off. That view differs from the traditional preference for large caps before considering mid- and small-cap stocks.
The AI slowdown in global markets is likely to remain an important factor for technology shares as investors assess whether the recent shift in sentiment can continue.
