UBS Big Tech AI Investment 2027: Spending Set to Top $1 Trillion

UBS Big Tech AI

Big Tech firms are on track to spend more than $1 trillion on AI infrastructure in 2027, according to a UBS report. The bank says demand for computing power is growing faster than supply, which is pushing companies to build out capacity quickly. This UBS Big Tech AI investment 2027 forecast follows spending that is expected to cross $600 billion in 2026.

UBS expects AI infrastructure spending to pass $600 billion in 2026 and then top $1 trillion the following year. The bank said demand had exceeded capacity ahead of schedule, which is adding pressure on companies to expand their computing infrastructure.

The report expects spending to keep rising over the next year, though the pace of growth could peak in 2027. The heavier outlay is straining company cash flows and raising the need for extra funding.

The boom is also feeding into the wider economy. UBS calculates AI infrastructure investment contributed roughly 0.75 percentage points to US GDP growth in the first half of 2026, making it a key pillar of US growth.

UBS Big Tech AI investment 2027 projection illustrates the rapid growth of AI infrastructure spending, from $600 billion to more than $1 trillion in just one year. The strain on cash flows suggests that funding, not demand, may become the tighter constraint. A possible peak in the growth rate in 2027 means the pace of increase could slow even as total spending stays high.

Watch how companies finance the build-out, since UBS says rising investment is increasing their need for additional funding. Also watch whether spending growth does peak in 2027, and whether AI infrastructure keeps adding to US GDP growth in the second half of 2026 as it did in the first.
