Bangkok Flood Videos Show Cars Stranded as 50 Districts Declared Disaster 

Bangkok has declared a flood disaster across all 50 districts after almost 300 mm of rain fell over roughly 48 hours, leaving roads underwater, cars stranded and residents wading through deep floodwater. The Bangkok flood videos emerging from affected areas show the extent of waterlogging across the Thai capital. 

The declaration was expanded from three districts initially designated as disaster areas as flooding spread. Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said areas near major canals were among the most affected, with water levels remaining a concern. 

The heavy rainfall filled Bangkok’s canal network faster than drainage systems could remove the water. Roads in several parts of the city became difficult or impossible for vehicles to cross, while images showed cars partly submerged and people moving through waist-high water. 

Bangkok authorities have been operating pumping stations and preparing temporary shelters for residents affected by the flooding. One million sandbags were also prepared for distribution, while people living near canals were advised to move vehicles and belongings to higher ground. 

The Bangkok flood videos also show the impact on major roads, with traffic disrupted across several areas. Flooding was particularly serious around parts of Lat Krabang and other canal-side locations. Local authorities urged residents to avoid badly flooded routes. 

The flooding has also created travel problems for people heading to Bangkok’s airports. Thailand’s authorities said Suvarnabhumi Airport remained operational, but travellers were advised to avoid heavily flooded routes around Lat Krabang and allow additional time for airport journeys. 

The disruption extends beyond the capital. More than 84,000 people across 21 provinces had been affected by flooding as of Saturday, with central Thailand among the areas reporting significant impacts. 

Thailand’s Meteorological Department warned that heavy to very heavy rain could continue, raising the possibility of further flooding, overflowing waterways and difficult travel conditions. Authorities are continuing to monitor rainfall, canal levels and affected roads.
