Agentic AI Tokenisation Quantum Reshape India Fintech

Technologies such as Agentic AI, tokenisation and quantum computing are creating new opportunities for the financial sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while addressing the seventh edition of the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai.
Agentic AI, tokenisation, and quantum computing in the financial sector are emerging as India expands its fintech ecosystem around innovation and financial inclusion. Modi said these technologies could open new possibilities while encouraging stakeholders to build systems that are trusted, secure and accessible.
The Prime Minister highlighted UPI as one of India’s strongest fintech achievements. More than 2,400 crore UPI transactions were recorded last month, while the payment system is now operational in 11 countries. He said greater international cooperation could help reduce the cost of remittances and improve cross-border financial services.
Modi also called for fintech to be used more effectively for financial inclusion. He urged companies to strengthen cybersecurity, follow ethical data production standards and support a regulated innovation ecosystem. He also proposed the development of a Fintech Protection Consumer Index to strengthen consumer safeguards.
The Agentic AI tokenisation quantum in the financial sector theme is central to this year’s Global Fintech Fest, which is being held in Mumbai from September 8 to 11. The four-day event is focused on how emerging technologies can support connected and inclusive financial systems.
The Global Fintech Fest 2026 theme, “Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum – Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance,” places emerging technology alongside financial inclusion and consumer trust.
Modi also pointed to India’s latest economic performance, noting that the country recorded 7.8% GDP growth in the last quarter despite global conflicts, uncertainty and pressure on energy and commodity supply chains.
The Prime Minister further said the Japan Credit Rating Agency had raised India’s sovereign credit rating from BBB+ to A-, with a stable outlook. He noted that the upgrade returned India to the A rating category after more than three decades.
