Chery’s Robot Division is Aiming for an IPO And the International Police Robot Market

As competition heats up in the nation’s rapidly expanding humanoid robot industry, the robotics branch of China’s biggest auto exporter Chery Automobile (9973.HK) announced on Wednesday that it is preparing for an IPO to finance future expansion and investments.
Zhang Guibing, head of business and president of Chery International, told Reuters on the sidelines of the World Robot Conference in Beijing that AiMOGA Robotics is in discussions about possible listing venues and anticipates a significant increase in humanoid robot deliveries next year as it looks to join the ranks of global robotics heavyweights.
The IPO intentions are first reported by Reuters. Zhang refused to give information on the time or location of a possible listing.
At Chery, separate listings of affiliates and subsidiaries are not unusual. For example, auto parts supplier Bethel Automotive listed on the Shanghai exchange in 2018, while robotics and automation company Efort went public on Shanghai’s STAR Market in 2020.
The action coincides with a boom in investment interest in China’s robotics sector. In its Shanghai trading debut on Wednesday, Unitree (688836.SS), the nation’s most well-known manufacturer of humanoid robots, nearly doubled in value. Meanwhile, upstart Lumos Robotics told Reuters that it was also thinking about offering on the stock market next year.
Automakers and tech companies are investing in China’s robotics sector because they believe that advancements in AI and autonomous systems will accelerate the commercial adoption of humanoid robots. This has turned China’s robotics sector into a new front in the Sino-American technology competition.
Businesses are rushing to discover practical uses outside of factories, from customer service and retail to public safety and law enforcement.
Established by Chery in January 2025, AiMOGA operates in over 60 nations and regions and has supplied over 3,000 robots worldwide, including 2,000 overseas.
