Masabi Acquires Passenger Technology

Masabi, a British company that provides software for public transport ticketing, has acquired Passenger Technology Group Ltd, a UK provider of passenger information and digital ticketing products for transport authorities.

Under the deal, Passenger Technology Group’s capabilities, including mobile apps, websites and real-time passenger information systems, will be folded into Masabi’s existing SaaS fare collection platform. This brings ticketing, payments and passenger information tools into a single technology ecosystem designed for public transit authorities and operators.

Masabi’s core product, the Justride fare collection platform, helps transit agencies manage electronic ticket sales and validations through mobile applications and smart ticketing solutions. Passenger Technology Group’s technology will allow Masabi to add branded passenger information systems and digital experience features used by several public transport networks in the UK and beyond.

Terms of the acquisition were not publicly disclosed. After the integration, Masabi says both companies will promote plan-pay-ride solutions that make buying tickets and accessing service information simpler for riders and more integrated for operators.

Companies will keep providing support to Passenger Technology Group’s current customers while they work on developing new features by integrating their existing technologies. Masabi will showcase its combined system at the Transport Ticketing Global conference which takes place in London on March 17 and 18 for 2026 to demonstrate its complete set of system capabilities.

The acquisition signals Masabi’s increasing desire to build complete mobility solutions which connect ticket sales with service information and fare transactions through a single cloud-based system. The system demonstrates how public transport operators now seek to upgrade their outdated systems by providing customers with contemporary digital services through a single technological platform.
